The low pressure area off the coast of Mindanao has developed into Tropical Depression Querubin, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday afternoon.
At 2 p.m., Querubin was located 215 kilometers southeast of Davao International Airport, carrying winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h.
It was moving south southwestward slowly.
Querubin is the 17th tropical cyclone to form inside or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this year.
