A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck the Municipality of Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental at 3:37 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The tremor has a depth of 18 kilometers, east of Hinoba-an (09.62°N, 122.47°E - 002 km N 9° E).
The quake was tectonic in origin, according to Earthquake Information Number 1 issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) at 3:41 p.m.
No damages are expected.
However, aftershocks are to be expected, PHIVOLCS indicated.
