Up to 15 alleged members of a lawless terrorist group have turned themselves in to the military in Maguindanao del Norte on Monday, December 16, 2024.

The 15 also turned over their firearms, including four 40mm RPG; two caliber .50 Barret; an M1 Carbine caliber .30; a Carbine caliber .30 Garand; two 7.62mm Sniper rifle; a KG9 9mm UZI; and 11 improvised explosive device (IED).

Brigadier General Jose Vladimir Cagara, commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, lauded the 15 former combatants for their decision to return to the folds of the law.

“Patuloy nating isusulong ang ating mga pagsusumikap para sa kapayapaan upang makamit ang pag-unlad ng mga komunidad na kanilang kinabibilangan,” Cagara said.

6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central Commander, Major General Antonio Nafarrete, also commended all stakeholders for the collaborative efforts in achieving peaceful communities.

“Kinikilala ng JTF Central at 6ID ang pagsisikap ng ating mga external at internal stakeholders para sa inisyatibang pangkapayapaan lalo na't malapit na ang National and Local Election at BARMM Parliamentary Election. Tinitiyak ng JTF Central at 6ID na gagawin namin ang lahat upang mapanatili ang kapayapaan at kaunlaran sa mga rehiyong aming nasasakupan,” Nafarrete said.
