A suspected motorcycle thief was killed after allegedly engaging in a shootout with the police in Purok Uno, Barangay Sumacab Este, Cabanatuan City.
At around 5:40 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, the suspect allegedly stole a motorcycle owned by a woman in the area.
The victim contacted the police quickly for assistance, which led to the cops pursuing the suspect.
During the chase, the suspect reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and fell.
Instead of surrendering, the suspect allegedly drew a firearm and fired at the pursuing police officers.
The cops returned fire and hit the suspect.
At the scene, authorities recovered spent cartridges from a .45 caliber pistol, as well as the .45 caliber firearm from the suspect.
The motorcycle was recovered.
