A low pressure area (LPA) developed east of Mindanao on Monday morning, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 24-hour tropical cyclone formation outlook, PAGASA said the LPA has a low chance to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

“At 8:00 AM today, the cloud cluster east of Mindanao developed into a Low Pressure Area with LOW chance of development into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours,” PAGASA said.

“All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA,” it added.

Last week, PAGASA said a tropical cyclone may develop and enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) within the period of December 16 to 22.

PAGASA said the possible weather disturbance may move towards the Visayas - Southern Luzon area.
