Three people, including a three-month-old baby, were killed while another was wounded after they were ambushed in Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Police said the victims on board a minivan were heading home to Barangay Gaunan from Tacurong City when they were ambushed by gunmen on board another minivan.

“‘Yung mga biktima natin nagta-travel on the way sa isang barangay pa rin ng Rajah Buayan. Upon arrival doon sa area of incident, sila ay tinambangan, sila ay binubuntutan ng isang minivan na walang plate number,” Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, said.

Authorities said the victims are relatives.

The driver died on the spot while a woman and her three-month-old daughter died in the hospital. The other victim is recuperating, as of this writing.

Investigators are still looking into the motive in the killing.

“Sa ngayon, wala pa tayong person of interest pero ongoing ‘yung deeper investigation natin tungkol sa insidenteng ito,” Ventura added.
