A security guard died while his companion was wounded after they were shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental morning on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Police said the two security guards were heading home on board a motorcycle when the suspects shot them and escaped.

The guard driving the motorcycle, Robert Galagnao, sustained a gunshot wound in the neck while the guard riding in pillion, Franklin Salon, died on the spot.

Authorities recovered five empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.

Investigators said the killing may have something to do with the victims’ work. They have reportedly filed a case against a person allegedly involved in a robbery incident at the condominium where the security guards worked.

"Nag-file ng kaso itong si Franklin Solon doon sa person of interest ng frustrated homicide, actually. Last Tuesday, nagkaroon sila ng hearing doon sa court,” Tagoloan Municipal Police Station Chief, Renz Harvey Serrano, said.
