The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Davao (LTFRB-11) is set to issue a show cause order and penalize the operator of a taxi whose driver stopped transporting a passenger in Davao City.

The passenger took to social media to express her dismay after the taxi driver told her and her children to disembark amid the pouring rain.

She said she was carrying her baby at that time and because of how the situation unfolded, her other child left her phone in the taxi.

When the driver and the passenger faced before the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), the driver reportedly admitted that he and the passenger clashed over the route the latter wanted to take.

He also reportedly admitted his lapses, and returned the cellphone left in the car.

"Katungod man gyud sa pasahero kung asa niya gusto muagi kay kabalo man siya unsay sitwasyon sa Davao City. So, nag-insist man gyud ang driver nga dili siya gusto mubalik sa Tulip kuno kay traffic kaayo, gusto niya sa Matina Aplaya pero wala siya kabalo nga gikan sa Feliz kung asa nagsakay tong pasahero is pwede siya mag-right turn padulong na sa Dumalag,” DCTTMO Chief, Dionisio Abude, said.

LTFRB-11 said the complaint has been forwarded to its legal division, which will determine the penalty to be imposed on the operator.

“There was really a denial of conveying the passenger from their origin to the destination. Sa pagkakaron, naa sa atong legal nga division ang maong reklamo and definitely, within the week, naa’y mogawas nga penalty sa maong operator kay ang operator man atoang ma-penalize kay wala man mi clout sa driver,” LTFRB-11 Director, Nonito Llanos III, said.

The operator has reportedly suspended the driver.

LTFRB-11 reminded taxi drivers and other drivers of public utility vehicles to follow the rules.

Llanos said traffic should not be a reason for drivers to refuse passengers.
