Several areas in Southern Luzon experienced flooding on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, due to the effects of a shear line.
In Roxas, Palawan, floodwaters rose above head level in Barangay Nicanor Zabala.
Resident Arnel Caralde shared a video showing the extent of the flooding.
“Bahay po namin 'yan, naanod nga po 'yung trycicle ko po,” he said.
Caralde and his family had evacuated to Sitio Ininjan.
As of this writing, floodwaters have started to subside.
QUEZON
In Tagkawayan, Quezon, flooding affected the old site of the Kinatakutan National High School Main Campus.
Teachers, staff, and students who live near nearby worked together to move school equipment to prevent damage.
"Agad na nagmalasakit ang mga guro, staff, at ilang mag-aaral na nakatira malapit sa paaralan sa paglilipat ng mga kagamitan upang maiwasan ang pagkasira ng mga ito," a statement from the school’s Facebook page read.
"Bukod dito, nakaranas na rin kahapon ang mga guro ng ilang maliliit na landslides sa riles habang pauwi sa bayan," it added.
Students were advised to stay home for safety. The school has postponed the scheduled Second Quarter Exams.
CAMARINES NORTE
In Camarines Norte, flooding was reported in Barangay San Francisco, Talisay also on December 10.
By 5:30 p.m., floodwaters also inundated F. Pimentel Avenue in Daet, with heavy rainfall contributing to the situation.
