A 77-year-old resident of Laoag City was beaten allegedly by a barangay tanod from Bangui in Vintar, Ilocos Norte.
The incident reportedly began as a heated argument between the two, which escalated into physical violence.
Witnesses claimed the tanod punched the senior citizen and threw a bottle at him.
While trying to dodge the attack, the elderly man fell to the pavement and sustained an injury in the head.
The elderly man was rushed to a hospital nearby.
The suspect fled the scene.
Authorities are investigating the motive behind the incident.
