A 65-year-old construction worker fell off a pickup truck while the vehicle was plying the Cebu South Coastal Road. The incident was caught on CCTV camera.
The incident happened at past 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, while the senior citizen along with his co-workers were heading for Rabaya Street in Talisay City, Cebu.
The CCTV footage showed that the flow of the traffic was smooth from the bridge going to the Cebu South Coastal Road while in Barangay San Roque, Talisay City.
The video showed that the white pickup truck was plying the outermost lane with four persons at the back of the vehicle; three of which in black, while one was in white t-shirt.
The man in white was first standing behind the passenger cab of the truck, but he sat on the ledge at the right side of the pickup, lost his balance, and fell off to the pavement.
The truck was moving slowly when the incident happened.
Jonathan Tumulak, chief of the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA) disclosed that the senior citizen is safe from harm.
He sustained a minor injury on the head, though.
He was rushed to the hospital.
Eduardo Ramos, truck driver, said that they were from Liloan town in north Cebu headed for Talisay City.
The incident was already reported to the police.
Police are waiting for the medical result of the senior citizen who is recuperating at the hospital, as of this writing.
Meanwhile, galvanized iron (GI) sheets fell off a truck at Natalio Bacalso Avenue, Barangay Bulacao in Talisay City.
Over 100 GI sheets fell on the road that led to a traffic jam that spanned over 30 minutes.
No vehicle was near the truck when the incident happened. No one was reported hurt in the incident.
The truck was from south Cebu bound for Cebu City.
A citation ticket for reckless driving and unsafe load or cargo was issued to the driver of the truck carrying the GI sheets.
