The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) is monitoring closely the Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island due to its continuous and elevated sulfur dioxide emission.

According to Nico Waje’s report on GMA-7’s “Saksi,” PHIVOLCS’s time-lapse footage showed that ash emissions were seen from 3:49 p.m. to 4:27 p.m. at Kanlaon Volcano on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

The number of volcano-tectonic (VT) earthquakes being recorded is also high, PHIVOLCS said.

Alert Level 2 (increased unrest) prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, PHIVOLCS added.
