The Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island released over 6,000 tons of sulfur dioxide flux as of December 3, 2024, said PHIVOLCS in a 12 a.m. advisory on December 4, 2024.
Kanlaon emitted 6,432 tons of sulfur dioxide flux, based on monitoring records.
The continuous degassing sent a 500-meter tall plume with occasional ash emission that drifted to the west and southwest side of the volcano.
Five ash emission events lasted from nine to 38 minutes long.
Nine volcanic earthquakes were recorded, the PHIVOLCS advisory further stated.
Alert Level 2 (increased unrest) prevails over Kanlaon Volcano.
