Three people were rescued after raging floodwaters carry away the “bao-bao” or tricycle they were riding in Makilala, Cotabato.
The river in the area also overflowed.
In a video footage, several residents are seen tying a rope on a tree to keep the tricycle from from getting carried away further.
The tricycle was carrying two female passengers when it tried to cross the bridge. The driver reportedly did not notice that the river had already overflowed.
Personnel of the barangay and residents rescued the driver and the two passengers.
“Sa dihang pagtabok nila diha sa may overflow, bale hinay pa kaayo tung baha. So naabtan sila sa kakusog sa maong overlow so naanod sila apil ang duha ka pasahero kaluy an sa Ginoo na rescue sila,” a resident, Melchor Balala, said.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is trying to reach out to those rescued for comment, as of this writing.
Other areas in the town were also flooded, including the national highway in Barangay Kisante where some vehicles were stranded.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is already assessing the damage caused by the flooding.
According to state weather bureau PAGASA, the bad weather experienced in Mindanao is due to localized thunderstorms.
