A video circulated on social media on the entry of armed men in a resort in Barangay Subabasbas, Lapu-Lapu City.
The video showed of the arrival of two vehicles from where armed men wearing bonnets disembarked and entered the resort forcibly, in a manner resembling a “takeover.”
According to Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, spokesperson of the Lapu-Lapu City Police, the incident happened on September 25, 2024 yet.
The group staged reportedly a takeover after a person introduced himself as resort owner.
Lt. Col. Torres said that the Lapu-Lapu City Police received a call on the reported presence of armed men at Zyrena Mactan Resort, but when they arrived in the area the place was taken over already by a new management.
In an initial investigation of the Lapu-Lapu City Police, no one was reported hurt in the incident, and that a case has already been filed on the claim of two parties to the resort property.
It was learned that since the incident on September 25, 2024, the resort stopped accepting guests.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak sought comment from the administrator of the resort page that posted the video, but is yet to receive a reply for the messages sent.
The resort's public statement apologized to persons who asked information about the incident, citing that they are barred from discussing details because of ongoing legal proceedings.
In the said statement of Zyrena Mactan Resort, the administrator mentioned that they were traumatized by the incident, and that the recovery and well-being of their staff members is their priority.
Further, the public statement underscored that the video was sent by an anonymous person, and that the admin uploaded the video as part of their official statement to support a probe on what had happened exactly during the alleged takeover.
The statement also urged the public to avoid temporarily a visit to the resort.
As of posting time, the news team is yet to get a statement from the other management team that has reportedly taken over the resort.
