Authorities intercepted a van at a checkpoint on San Antonio-Zaragoza Road in Barangay Batitang, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija transporting illegal cigarettes worth approximately P1.35 million.
The van, driven by a 42-year-old man from Lapaz, Tarlac, was headed to San Antonio, Nueva Ecija when police grew suspicious and flagged it.
Upon inspection, officers discovered boxes of illegal cigarettes.
The cigarettes were confiscated and the driver was taken to the Zaragoza Police Station where he was charged.
