A motorcycle rider was burned to death when his vehicle caught fire in a collision with a wing van truck.
The incident happened on the National Road in Barangay Tinaan, City of Naga, south Cebu past 11 p.m. on November 30, 2024.
The motorcycle that was driven by a 52-year-old man, said to be a resident of Cebu City, exploded reportedly on impact when it slammed into an aluminum wing wan driven by a 49-year-old man from Bais City, Province of Negros Oriental.
In an investigation done by the Naga City Police, the rider was from San Fernando town and was headed for Cebu City, while the wing van was from Cebu City and was bound for San Fernando. But upon reaching the said site, the motorcycle driver went past his designated lane toward the lane occupied by the wing van that resulted in the collision.
The motorcycle along with the driver was thrown on impact; the vehicle exploded that burned the driver alive.
The driver was rushed to the Vicente Mendiola Medical Center Infirmary Hospital in the City of Naga but was declared there dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the driver of the wing van truck was taken into police custody awaiting appropriate charges to be filed against him.
