A metal pipe loaded on a hutch-like sidecar referred to locally as an “angkar-angkar” snagged a man who was driving his motorcycle in Tigbauan town, Iloilo. 

The incident was caught on CCTV camera.

The footage showed that the galvanized iron (GI) pipe was held by a man riding pillion on the “angkar-angkar" (or "kolong-kolong").

As the vehicle maneuvered a left turn, the motorcycle rider heading toward the "angkar-angkar" was hit on the head by the protruding end of the metal pipe.

The incident happened in Barangay Poblacion 6, Tigbauan at 12:45 p.m. on November 27, 2024.

The victim was identified as a certain “Alex,” 23 years old, and a resident of Tubungan town, Iloilo.

The driver of the “angkar-angkar” was identified as one “Denmark,” 32 years old, resident of Guimbal town in Iloilo.

According to Police Captain Alfred Mansoy, chief of Tigbauan Municipal Police Station, the motorcycle rider was headed for Iloilo.

The motorcycle rider hit a parked vehicle, said to be a pickup, after the pipe snagged him. 

He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced there dead on arrival.

Tigbauan Police are awaiting the final decision of the family whether to pursue, or not, a case against the "angkar-angkar" driver.
