A 31-year-old teacher has lodged a complaint against a 57-year-old fellow teacher for alleged act of voyeurism and for putting her on video while she was taking a bath in a jamboree campsite in Calinog town, Province of Iloilo.

The female teacher, of single status, appeared at the Calinog Police Station to file a formal complaint against an alleged “peeping Tom” who took a video of her while she was inside the washroom at Camp Hinilawod de Calinog, the designated campsite of the 2024 Provincial Boys Scout Jamboree.

According to Police Major Myles Dieron, chief of the Calinog Municipal Police Station, the complainant said she was inside the toilet when she noticed that a cellphone was placed under a portion of the wall.

When she checked the device, she saw her image reflected on the screen and that the recording feature of the cellphone is turned on.

The suspect was arrested.

The female teacher filed formally a case against the alleged voyeur for violation of Republic Act 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act. However, the suspect was able to post bail thereafter.

Further, it was learned from the authorities that the complainant is a teacher from the fifth district of Iloilo, while the suspect is a teacher from the third district and is married.

Over 7,000 boys scouts and their scoutmasters converged in Barangay Libot, Calinog on November 24, 2024 for the provincial jamboree. Culmination is set on November 28, 2024.
