The Social Security System (SSS) has intensified its campaign against employers that fail to remit the contributions of their workers.
Through its “Run After Contribution Evaders” program, more than 700 employers in Cagayan de Oro City are facing complaints, so far, for non-declaration, non-registration, and delayed payments of contributions.
"After atong dili mo comply sa demand letter from receipt naa tay 10days nga grace period sa ila mo saka na dayon mi sa prosecutors office mag file ug criminal complaint,” Atty. Kathlene Gonzales-Japuz of the legal division of SSS-Northern Mindanao said.
Since January to October 2024, another 78 companies in the city were also found to have delinquent accounts, which are now in the legal division of SSS.
Employees are urged to register at the SSS website to monitor their contributions.
"In fact, all employers ang compulsorily required by SSS that all employee should register with the web para mismo ang empleyado na ang mo-verify sa iyang records,” SSS-Cagayan de Oro Branch Manager, Valentine Auzo, said.
SSS said it is serious in running after violators of the SSS Law, especially that its office has been receiving complaints every day.
“We give them more time to comply, either magpa-register or mag-avail sa installment payment kung dili kaya. Ninety percent of the time, ang cases nga gi-file sa court, ma-resolve ra gyud siya,” Gonzales-Japuz added.
