A painter died after he was electrocuted and fell from a scaffold while painting the exterior of a hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.
Police said the metal scaffold hit a power line.
The painter, 49, was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
“Napuruhan gyud siya kay nalagpot, nahulog pa man gyud siya murag gikan sa taas bitaw nga bahin kay magpintal man siya sa exterior nga bahin pagkasangit sa katung metal scaffolding sa live wire nalagpot pud siya,” Agora Police Station Deputy Commander, Captain Saul Abel Yacapin, said.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine whether or not the employer had lapses.
The hotel management has yet to issue a statement, as of this writing.
“Atong giimbestigahan kay para makuha gyud nato ang ensakto ug atong mahibaw-an kinsay responsible ngadto sa hitaboa,” Yacapin added.
The incident cut power in several areas but personnel of the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Company (CEPALCO) were quick to restore electricity.
