It will take about eight to nine months before the road elevation and drainage system project on Perez Boulevard in Dagupan City will be completed.
"Mabilis naman dahil sa ganda ng panahon... mga eight to nine months [bago matapos]," said Joenel Magat, the project foreman.
But until the project is finished, ongoing works will continue to cause headache to business owners along the street, as well as to drivers and commuters.
For over 12 years, Windy Geminiano, a food vendor, has served customers along the busy street.
However, the ongoing construction has reportedly reduced her sales sharply.
"Maalikabok, may sumisingaw, [at] mabaho. Pagkain po business namin, nakaka-apekto talaga siya," Geminiano said.
The project has also led to heavy traffic, frustrating motorists and commuters.
"Sa traffic po halos lahat ng oras, andun [nauubus] eh, doon po namamatay ang oras — imbes na di ka mali-late, mali-late ka po," May Fernandez, a commuter, said.
"Sa traffic nakakaperwisyo talaga. Pero kung hindi naman traffic, okay lang," Adolfo Cabansag, a motorist, said.
