Cagayan province has suffered over P2 billion in agricultural losses after six consecutive storms hit the area in just over 20 days.
The damage has impacted rice, corn, and other high-value crops across the region heavily.
In response, the provincial government started distributing the remaining calamity or quick response funds to farmers affected.
This move aims to help them recover quickly from the devastating effects of the recent disasters.
Ruelie Rapsing, Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Cagayan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), assured farmers that the process is being fast-tracked.
"'Yung Office of the Provincial Agriculturist natin in-expedite nila ang process. Marami na tayong payrolls na napirmahan for them to distribute the financial assistance," Rapsing said.
Aside from financial aid, certified seeds and fertilizers are also being distributed to farmers to aid in their recovery efforts.
