A security guard was stabbed to death by a janitor in Leganes, Iloilo reportedly because of missing money worth P500.
Joven Porcado, 26 years old, a security guard at a plant that supplies dressed chicken, was stabbed dead by Aljun Pandes, 21 years old.
The suspect got enraged at the victim for accusing him allegedly of stealing P500 that was supposedly for the payment of a parcel delivery.
The incident happened at the workplace in Barangay Nabitasan, Leganes town in the Province of Iloilo on the night of November 23, 2024.
The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after sustaining several wounds.
The mother of the victim said she has a hard time accepting the death of her son.
“Hindi na maibabalik ang buhay ng anak ko. Siya lang talaga ang maaasahan ko,” Eufracina Porcado, the mother, said.
The father of the victim said he could not believe as well that he would lose his son in a tragic way.
“Para akong mamamatay, hindi ko maintindihan. Habang kumakain ako, parang hindi ko malunok ang kanin,” Narciso Porcado, the father, said.
Based on police investigation, the victim was at his workstation when the suspect attacked him.
“During the altercation po, merong umaawat po na co-workers nila pero ito pong suspek natin medyo may kalakihan po ng katawan, nahirapan sila na awatin at natuluyang nasaksak ang biktima,” said Police Captain Enrique Robles, chief of the Leganes Municipal Police Station.
The suspect surrendered to the authorities along with a workmate, identified as alias “Leo,” who took allegedly the security guard’s service firearm.
According to the suspect, he was singled out as the one who took the lost P500 sans evidence. He said he felt humiliated at the accusation.
“Pagbalik niya na wala nang may makitang ebidensya na ako ang kumuha, sinumbatan niya talaga ako na ako daw talaga. Nagalit pa siya. Siyempre, maraming tao that time, napahiya ako. Parang lumabas na magnanakaw ako,” Pandes, the suspect, explained.
Meanwhile, alias “Leo” denied vehemently any involvement in the crime.
“Wala akong alam. Nang dumaan ako, nag-aaway na sila. Then inutusan niya ako na kunin ang baril kasi sabi niya, marami ang madadamay,” alias “Leo” pointed out.
According to the police, the prosecutor’s office will determine whether alias “Leo” is an accessory to the crime.
The two are now detained awaiting the filing of appropriate charges against them.
The management of the establishment refused to grant an on-camera interview, but vowed they will cooperate with further investigation.
