At least 12 families were displaced after their houses were razed by fire in Barangay Patag, Cagayan de Oro.
The fire was raised to fourth alarm as it spread quickly to houses nearby.
Firefighters had a hard time penetrating the area because of the narrow road.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said structural damage reached around P6 million.
According to some residents, an electric fan that reportedly exploded may have caused the fire.
However, authorities are still investigating the incident, as of this writing.
“Under investigation pa. Ang among mga imbestigador, nag-imbestiga pa sa kung unsay cause sa sunog,” BFP-CDO Intelligence and Investigation Section Chief, Inspector Mary Ranelie Salga, said.
The families affected have taken shelter at the barangay gymnasium where they were provided with immediate aid.
“Para mapaspasan namo kung pila ang ihatag sa ilaha para makapalit sila og kahoy, sin, or whatsoever,” Barangay Chairman, Eric Abaday, said.
