Officials of Barangay Tapuac, Dagupan City are stepping up efforts to monitor foreign students in the area amid concerns over security and proper identification.
The barangay passed a resolution requiring boarding house and apartment owners to register foreign tenants with the barangay.
Police chief, PLTCOL. Brendon Palisoc, shared concerns about reports involving foreign students who figured in alleged illegal activities.
The police will monitor foreign residnets in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration.
The barangay clarified that the move is not meant to discriminate anyone. In fact, a Foreign National Desk has been opened at the barangay hall to assist foreign residents with their needs.
Authorities said the aim is to ensure safety and accountability while fostering a welcoming environment for foreign residents.
