The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is beefing up police visibility in areas where people gather as holiday season nears.

Police reminded the public to refrain from wearing expensive jewelry when they go to areas where people converge like shopping centers, among others.

Based on DCPO monitoring, robbery is the leading crime during the Christmas season.

Despite the downtrend in crimes since July 2024, authorities reminded the public to stay vigilant and not to be complacent.

The public is discouraged from wearing expensive jewelry and bringing huge amount of money.

Authorities said it is better to use cards or online payments.

For business owners, putting up security cameras in the establishment would also help deter or solve crimes.

DCPO will focus its deployment in areas where several shopping centers are located.

Police also continue to monitor if personalities who have criminal records and were freed from jail went back to their illegal activities.

“Sa atoang oplan tokhang nga paghangyo nato sa ila nga dili na mubalik sa illegal nga ginabuhat kay naa tay nafilelan and after nila maserve ilahang sentence sa prisohan, mugawas na sila, naay uban mubalik naay uban magbag-o,” Tuazon said.
