A teacher and a former barangay chairman were arrested with suspected shabu worth nearly P24 million in separate buy-bust operations in Sulu and Marawi City on Friday, November 22, 2024.

A female teacher and her four companions were arrested in a sting operation in Marawi City.

A minor present in the operation was rescued and was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD).

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-BARMM) agents confiscated five plastic bags containing suspected shabu worth around P3.4 million.

Meanwhile, agents of PDEA-Sulu arrested the former barangay chairman and his companion in Jolo, Sulu.

Their other companion escaped upon sensing the presence of the operating team.

Seized from the suspects were three packs of suspected shabu weighing around three kilos and worth more than P20 million.

All suspects were detained and are facing charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165).
