President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. attended the distribution of financial assistance to farmers and fishers in Pangasinan affected by recent typhoons.
The national government allocated P50 million, providing P10,000 each to 5,000 beneficiaries in the province.
Marcos assured the public of ongoing support, including agricultural inputs like buffer seeds and other forms of assistance.
“Layunin nitong maging unang hakbang para makabangon kayo,” he said.
He also ordered the Department of Agriculture (DA) to assess the situation comprehensively to identify additional aid that may be necessary.
The President expressed gratitude to first responders for their efforts during the six typhoons that hit the country in just 23 days.
He pledged enhanced preparations for future climate-related disasters.
Aside from farmers and fisherfolk, residents whose homes were destroyed by typhoons will also receive aid.
Damage to Pangasinan’s agriculture sector have reached P982 million.
