Victims of suspected food poisoning in the Province of Guimaras have already reached 409 persons, according to an ongoing investigation of the Buenavista Police.
As of this writing, two are still admitted at the hospital in the Municipality of Jordan, while the rest of the patients admitted at a hospital in the Municipality of Buenavista were already dispensed.
The police also confirmed that specimen of the spaghetti consumed by the victims, water used in cooking the food, and drinking water were submitted to the Department of Health 6 for laboratory examination.
To recall, students of Guimaras State University exhibited vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea after consuming food prepared for a school event by an independent caterer.
Students who brought home extra food packs also complained of the said symptoms.
Members of their family who had partaken of the food were struck with the said ill signs, police added.
Guimaras State University already formed a fact-finding committee to help establish the veracity of a food-poisoning incident and determine the cause.
“Indi lang bale spaghetti ang sinerve kungdi may mga softdrinks, tinapay, at tubig rin,” Police Captain Rene Mercado, officer in charge of Buenavista Municipal Police Station, said.
