Bohol marked a milestone with the ceremonial switch-on of the province's first-ever solar power plant.
The 27-megawatt peak (MWp) solar power plant worth approximately P1.2 billion is located in Barangay San Vicente, Dagohoy town.
The Dagohoy Solar Power Plant is seen to provide clean, renewable energy to 15,000 households, according to Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado.
The solar plant is seen to boost Bohol’s energy self-sufficiency and contribute to its environmental sustainability goals as the country's first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and Regenerative Island.
“As the first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and Regenerative Island in the country, we must closely partner with companies like Dagohoy Green to balance our need for growth with the commitment to a net-zero future by harnessing our rich, renewable energy resources,” Aumentado said in his speech.
The switch-on was led by Department of Energy Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara, Dagohoy Green Energy Corporation (DGEC) President Francisco Delfin Jr., Second District Representative Maria Vanessa Aumentado, Dagohoy Mayor Hermie Relampagos, and Governor Aumentado.
