Two alleged members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG) wanted for murder and attempted murder were arrested in Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte.
Police identified the two as alias “Ali,” 21, and a 17-year-old minor. Alias “Ali” was the second most wanted person in Northern Mindanao while the minor was said to be the second most wanted person in the province.
They were arrested by virtue of a warrant for two counts of murder and attempted murder with no bail recommended.
Authorities said the two were allegedly involved in the ambush of three military personnel in Munai town in January 2023, which resulted in casualties on the government side.
The suspects are now under the custody of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC).
Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Jaysen de Guzman lauded the operating team for the successful implementation of the “Oplan Pagtugis” against the suspects.
“Your unwavering commitment to duty and exemplary teamwork have brought two most-wanted individuals to justice. This achievement underscores our dedication to ensuring the safety and security of our communities. I urged the public to continue supporting the authorities by providing information that can lead to the apprehension of wanted persons,” de Guzman said.
