The top official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has awarded medals to the police officers killed and wounded in the drug bust in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco Marbil, visited the wake of one of the officers killed and awarded a posthumous Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP Medal of Valor). He also handed over financial assistance to the family.
“The bravery and selflessness of PCpl Sipin, along with Patrolwoman Roselyn Bulias, who also gave her life in this operation, exemplify the highest ideals of public service. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” Marbil said.
Marbil also visited the wounded police officer at a hospital in General Santos City and awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magitin (Wounded Personnel Medal) and Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP Heroism Medal) and gave financial aid to support the officer’s medical needs.
Two police officers were killed while two other personnel were wounded when a buy-bust operation resulted in an armed encounter with suspects on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Two suspects were also wounded and got arrested while two other suspects escaped and are now subject of a manhunt operation.
Authorities also seized suspected shabu worth nearly P7 million.
