A 47-year-old man was stabbed and hacked to death by his neighbor in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
The victim sustained five stab wounds and seven hack wounds in different parts of his body.
Authorities said the suspect was heading home while the victim was in a shanty to rest when a heated argument erupted between the two.
According to the suspect’s wife, her husband got the bolo from their house. She even reportedly had to wrestle the weapon away from her husband after finding out about what happened.
“Wala na nako napugngan… ayha nako nakadagan didto mga five minutes gikan paglakaw niya… diha na nako nadunggog nga naay niana, tabang, nangayo og tabang si Randy, katong biktima nagilugay pami sa sundang sa akong bana,” she said.
The suspect fled after the incident on board a motorcycle but he turned himself in to the Kitaotao Police Station later.
Police are looking into personal grudge as possible motive in the killing, especially that the two had a previous conflict about water connection. The suspect reportedly tapped into the victim’s water line but the victim reportedly cut the connection, which made the suspect furious.
“Accordingly, kining suspek, nag-attach sa victim… it so happened nga giputlan sa biktima maoy hinungdan nga nasuko ang suspek,” El Salvador City Police Chief, Lt. Col. Patrick Dalangin, said.
