Health officials are monitoring closely the condition of some evacuees at the Regional Evacuation Center in Calasiao, Pangasinan after they contracted cough and colds.

"Kapag ganitong mga bagyo, kailangan sa MHO (Municipal Health Office) namin 'yung monitoring namin sa kalusugan ng mga evacuee ay strict, dapat nakatutok kami," Jierzon Quinto, Nurse III from the Calasiao MHO, said.

One evacuee, Renan De Vera, 21, from Barangay Poblacion, has contracted a cough.

"Yung pag-ubo, nabasa kasi ako ng ulan," he said.

De Vera evacuated with his partner out of fear that strong winds from Super Typhoon #PepitoPH might uproot trees near their home.

Christine Dioquino, a pregnant 21-year-old from Barangay San Miguel, also fled her home with her partner after floodwaters entered their house.

"Lumikas po kami kasi pinapasok na rin ng tubig yung bahay namin," she said.

The MHO has provided evacuees with medicines.

Authorities advised residents to avoid wading through floodwaters and to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.

"Mag-ingat sa mga posibleng maidulot na sakit gaya ng leptospirosis at dengue," Quinto said.
