Eastern Visayas reports zero casualty amid the series of weather disturbances in the region in over two weeks in November 2024.
During the presentation of response effort reports by various agencies to the Regional Inter-Agency Coordination Cell (RIACC) 8 on November 18, 2024, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 8 Director Lord Byron Torrecarion lauded the men and women of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) 8 for their “collective efforts and well-coordinated disaster response measures.”
A total of 64,148 families or 233,393 individuals adhered to a preemptive evacuation, this was learned in a post-Tropical Cyclone Pepito Assessment to review the activities and commendable practices implemented by various Local Government Units (LGUs) and member-agencies of RDRRMC 8.
Arnel Agabe, director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government 8 and vice chairperson for disaster preparedness, highlighted the exemplary efforts of all LGUs in Eastern Visayas that conducted preemptive evacuations proactively prior to the landfall of Tropical Cyclone Pepito.
