Dark clouds loomed over Barangay Bacon in Sorsogon City on Saturday morning, November 16, 2024, signaling the impending arrival of Typhoon #PepitoPH.
Michael Fugnit, the photographer, captured the eerie scene at around 7:30 a.m.
He noted that despite the ominous skies, the weather remained calm in the area as of 10:28 a.m., with occasional gusts of wind and rain.
"As of now (10:28 a.m.) kalma pa po ang panahon at nagpakita pa po si haring araw kanina. Pabugso-bugso na ang hangin at ulan po," he said.
Meanwhile, residents of Barangay Sabang in Bulusan, Sorsogon, also felt the typhoon’s effects, with strong winds and heavy rain at 7:28 a.m.
Local resident John Firmanes, who filmed the weather conditions, reported that the weather had calmed by 10 a.m.
"Kalmado po na mahangin," he said.
Typhoon #PepitoPH's center was located 235 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 8 a.m. bulletin.
The storm is moving west-northwest and is expected to make landfall in Catanduanes either Saturday evening or early Sunday morning.
