A man in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte was injured after he set fire to a vehicle and attacked police officers with a machete.
Alejo Natores, 40, allegedly set fire to the bumper of an SUV owned by a barangay chairman.
After the incident, he fled the scene, which prompted a search.
Policemen who arrived at Natores’ home were greeted by the suspect who brandishing a machete. He charged at the cops and damaged the patrol car’s windshield.
The police tried to drive away but collided with a parked van.
Natores continued to attack, prompting one officer to fire a shot, which hit the suspect in his left thigh.
Natores was rushed to the hospital, and the machete was recovered.
He now faces charges of arson, direct assault, and malicious mischief.
Police reports suggest that Natores was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
