A dismissed employee of Mandaue City has been found guilty of graft and direct bribery.

The Mandaue City Regional Trial Court Branch 84 found Atty. Reynaldo Mayol, former head of the Registry of Deeds guilty of violating Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and direct bribery.

Atty. Mayol has been meted imprisonment of six years to one day (minimum penalty) to eight years (maximum penalty), and perpetual disqualification from government service.

As for his case on direct bribery, he was sentenced to indeterminate imprisonment for four years, two months, and one day (minimum penalty) to nine years, four months, and one day (maximum penalty).

The court has directed Mayol to settle fines worth P450,000.
