The New Corella town in Davao del Norte has logged at least four shooting incidents in the first two weeks of November 2024.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office said that the incidents were isolated and were not related to politics or with the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
On November 3, a ‘bao-bao’ driver was shot dead in Purok 7, Barangay Mesaoy while he was riding the vehicle.
A pedicab driver was also shot dead in the town on November 8.
Four days later, two bodies were found dead inside a house in Barangay del Pilar. The man sustained 13 gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body while the woman succumbed to a gunshot wound on her forehead.
Meanwhile, another man was shot dead in Barangay Poblacion on November 13.
The victim sustained five gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body.
Initial investigation disclosed that the gunman waited for the victim to come out of a billiard hall before shooting him.
Authorities are already investigating the four incidents to determine the motive.
Police have already identified some persons of interest.
They also urged those who have knowledge in the incidents to come forward and cooperate with the police.
Police are already intensifying visibility in the town, including the conduct of checkpoints.
