Live hogs, pork, and pork related products from Luzon and other areas hit by African Swine Fever (ASF) in 2019 may now enter Cagayan de Oro.

According to the City Information Office, the entry of live hogs, pork, and processed pork products to the city is now allowed by virtue of an executive order signed by Mayor Roland Uy on November 8, 2024.

Guidelines will be enforced strictly by the City Veterinary Office (CVO, Department of Agriculture (DA), Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), and other agencies concerned.

CVO said those who will carry live hogs, pork, and pork related products must have documents and permit from DA, FDA, and NMIS.

CVO added other areas in the country have already allowed the entry of live hogs, pork, and pork products in their localities.

The city has implemented a temporary total ban on the entry of hogs and pork products from Luzon and other areas affected by ASF on September 27, 2019.

The city was even hit by ASF that affected thousands of backyard hog raisers.
