The Local Government Unit of Tacloban City and the Provincial Government of Eastern Samar declared suspension of work and classes on Friday, November 15, 2024 in anticipation of inclement weather due to Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-Yi).
Mayor Alfred Romualdez declared that classes in all levels in Tacloban City, both public and private, including work in government offices, will follow a half-day schedule on Friday, November 15, 2024.
#PepitoPH is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain within the next 36 hours, lasting through Saturday night (November 16, 2024), according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
“Residents are advised to take precautions and monitor updates in view of the looming threats of the storm,” the city government said in a post.
An executive order supported the declaration of suspension of government work and classes.
Work and classes have been suspended as well in the Province of Eastern Samar and Province of Samar.
"In light of the expected harsh weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Pepito, Executive Order No. BPE11-015, Series of 2024, has been issued, suspending work in all government offices from 1 p.m. today, November 15, 2024," a post on Provincial Government of Eastern Samar said.
"Furthermore, classes in all levels are canceled from November 15, 2024 to November 16, 2024 throughout the province," it added.
The Provincial Government assured constituents that local authorities are monitoring the situation.
The public is urged to stay vigilant.
The Provincial Government of Samar issued Executive Order No.23-2024, Series of 2024, declaring the suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools, and suspension of work in all government offices starting noon on Friday, November 15, 2024 due to Typhoon Pepito.
However, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar announced of regular working day for Capitol employees on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Governor Edwin Ongchuan has directed a regular working day for Provincial Government employees to "ensure that Capitol properties, documents, and other assets are protected against the potential impact of #PepitoPH."
Alongside this order, Ongchuan also called for a meeting with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) morning on November 15, 2024 to "monitor and prepare against this adverse weather situation."
