At least two pharmacies in Cagayan de Oro were issued with notices for allegedly not following the suggested retail price (SRP).
Members of the Cagayan de Oro City Price Coordinating Council (CPCC), Department of Health (DOH), and Foods and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a surprise inspection to check if pharmacies and medicines distributors are following the SRP.
Of the six pharmacies and one medicine distributor inspected, two were found to have set prices beyond the SRP.
The two pharmacies were issued a notice and were made to answer why they should not be penalized.
CPCC explained that what they are doing is not anti-business but pro-regulation.
Authorities urged the management of pharmacies and medicines distributors to follow the SRP to avoid complaints of profiteering.
