A moderate to high risk of storm surge may occur at coastlines in Northern Luzon within the next 48 hours due to Super Typhoon (ST) Ofel, says state weather bureau PAGASA in an advisory issued morning on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
PAGASA said that there is a possibility of inundation due to rising sea water along with high waves in the low-lying coastal communities in some municipalities in the provinces of:

ILOCOS NORTE (BACARRA, BADOC, BANGUI, BURGOS, CURRIMAO, LAOAG CITY), PAOAY, PASUQUIN)
ILOCOS SUR (CABUGAO, MAGSINGAL, SAN JUAN (LAPOG), SINAIT)
AURORA (DINALUNGAN)
Estimated storm surge heights: 2.1-3 meters
BATANES (BASCO, ITBAYAT, IVANA, MAHATAO, SABTANG, UYUGAN)
CAGAYAN (ABULUG, APARRI, BAGGAO, BALLESTEROS, BUGUEY, CALAYAN, CLAVERIA, GATTARAN, GONZAGA, LAL-LO, PAMPLONA, PEÑABLANCA, SANCHEZ-MIRA, SANTA ANA, SANTA PRAXEDES, SANTA TERESITA)
ILOCOS NORTE (PAGUDPUD)
ISABELA (DINAPIGUE, DIVILACAN, MACONACON, PALANAN)
AURORA (CASIGURAN, DILASAG)
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS:
Residents living in the low-lying coastal communities are still advised to:
> Stay away from the coast or beach
> Cancel all marine activities
> Be aware and follow latest updates from DOST-PAGASA
"The public and the disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and precautionary measures, and watch for the next storm surge information to be issued at 2 p.m. today [November 14, 2024]," PAGASA further said.
