A policeman in Cagayan de Oro City was arrested and is facing charges after he pointed a gun at a police official.
The reason - the alleged delay in the processing of his mandatory leave.
The policeman was assigned at the Divisoria Police Station. It was there that he confronted the official at gunpoint using an M16 rifle.
The cops at the station pacified the situation.
Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), said it is possible that the dates the cop applied for are no longer available, which may have delayed the process.
“Siguro kay dili man gusto ma-vacuum ang opisina sa Police Station 1 ang iyang na-applyan nga petsa o adlaw aduna na’y naka-una nga PNCO nga naka-apply ani, so need to adjust ang Admin PNCO ug nabati siguro niya nga medyo nadelatar o nadugay ang proseso sa pag-apply sa maong mandatory leave,” Viñas said.
The cop is facing charges for grave threat, and alarm and scandal. He is also facing administrative raps.
“So mag-atubang ang maong Staff Sergeant kay kining grave offense, punishable by dismissal from service kining insubordination, conduct unbecoming of an officer,” Viñas said.
He is also facing charges for violation of the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons Act (RA 7277) since the police official is a person with disability (PWD).
He has been disarmed and placed under the custody of COCPO.
“Atong pahimangno sa atong mga kabaro o kauban nato sa buhat nga we have to control our temper and anger. Para dili masangtop sa mga ingon ani ug ulahi na ang pagbasol,” Viñas said.
