A 30-year-old woman died after a falling rock hit her while she was navigating the road on board her motorcycle in the City of Naga, south Cebu.

The woman was navigating the road in Sitio Palanas in Barangay Inayagan at past 10 a.m. on November 11, 2024 when a rock fell from an elevated portion of the area. 

Residents found the woman and his motorcycle sprawled on the road.

It was learned that the woman is a resident of Tuburan town in midwest Cebu and that she works in Barangay Inayagan.

She was hit reportedly hit in the midsection of her body down to the lower extremities.

She was rushed to the hospital but expired there.

Barangay Chairman Edilberto Fat inspected the area and said that he will coordinate with the Local Government Unit of the City of Naga to avert a similar incident.

Meanwhile, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) was reduced to metal wreck after it crashed into a parked payloader in Barangay Campo Cuatro on upland Talisay City, Cebu.

The payloader was parked after a clearing operation in an area where roadworks have been ongoing.

The incident happened past 10 a.m. on November 11, 2024 in the same area where past landslides occurred especially under inclement weather.

The 33-year-old driver, three-year-old passenger, and a senior citizen along with three other adults went unscathed. They refused to be taken to the hospital.

It was learned that they were from the airport and were bound for Toledo City.

No major damage on the payloader upon impact was recorded.

Talisay City Councilor Danny Caballero, chairperson of the Committee on Transportation and Committee on Disaster Resiliency will send once more a resolution to the Department of Public Works and Highways to fast-track the mounting of traffic warning signs in the area.

According to Jonathan Tumulak, head of the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA) that he met with DPWH representatives morning of November 12, 2024, and shared the same request.

Tumulak said the agency vowed that the mounting of safety signages is coming near the said accident-prone area.
