Aparri, Cagayan is now under a state of calamity following the heavy damage caused by Super Typhoon #MarcePH, while bracing for the possible effect of Tropical Storm #OfelPH.

Aparri is one of the areas in the province of Cagayan that Super Typhoon Marce hit the hardest.

According to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWD), more than 20,000 families — or over 78,000 people — were affected.

Initial assessment reports showed over P8.1 million in agricultural damage and P7.9 million in infrastructure losses.

In anticipation of more storms such as Tropical Storm Ofel, the local government met with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to strengthen response strategies.

Plans discussed include early evacuation to minimize the need for mid-storm rescues, ensuring safety for both affected residents and responders.
