A motorcycle rider died after a wing van truck plowed through multiple vehicles on Carlos P. Garcia Highway in Ma-a, Davao City.
Police said the truck was traveling the north bound lane when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while going downhill and plowed through six private vehicles and five motorcycles.
Because of the impact, the driver of one of the motorcycles died while those injured were rushed to the hospital.
“Ang na-account, nabigyan ng first aid… tatlong pasyente tapos ang the rest yung seven okay naman po sila. ‘Yung isa confirmed na yun andun ang expired body,” Davao Emergency and Fire Volunteers Vice President for Administration, Emy Cagas, said.
The incident caused heavy traffic in the area.
The truck driver was taken under police custody and may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injury, and damage to property.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reminded motorists to check the condition of the vehicle first to avoid accidents.

Since January to September 2024, the city has logged up to 2,254 road crash incidents involving more than 6,000 vehicles.
