President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. recently visited Cagayan to oversee relief efforts and assess the damage caused by Typhoon #MarcePH.
During his visit, he distributed aid to residents affected and inspected structures that have been damaged, including the Licerio Antiporda Sr. National High School.
"Palagi kong ipinipilit na pupunta ako that I come to see for myself," Marcos said.
"Ngayon, dito sa Cagayan ang dapat tignan ay reconstruction… sa private mga bahay maraming nasira," he added.
The President directed immediate repairs of schools across the province.
P10 million in presidential assistance was allocated to various towns in Cagayan, including Aparri, Buguey, Sanchez Mira, Sta. Teresita, Baggao, Gattaran, Gonzaga, and Santa Ana.
In Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, which also suffered extensive damage, Marcos led further relief efforts, delivering food packs, rice, and financial support.
He announced P50 million in assistance to the Ilocos Norte provincial government and an additional P20 million for the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) TUPAD program for communities in Pagudpud, Pasuquin, Vintar, Bacarra, Adams, Dumalneg, Bangui, and Burgos.
"Meron din tayong ibinigay sa mga iba pang bayan na tinamaan din ng kalamidad," Marcos said.
"Kung minsan, hindi sapat ang aming dala, may iba-ibang pangangailangan eh. Iiwan namin sa LGU kasi sila ang nakakaalam ng inyong pangangailangan," he added.
