A landslide was reported along the Davao-Bukidnon Highway in Barangay Marilog Proper, Davao City due to recent rains.
According to the barangay, the soil may have softened because of the downpour experienced in the city recently.
“Nakita namo didto nga ang iyahang maong status sa luna, sa yuta, dili gyud siya maingon nga kanang gahi ba. Nisamot pagyud kay naa syay barandilya, bug-at. Actually, gamay pana siya, so katong the other day nga kusog gyud ang ulan nagkahinay nga nagkahinay hangto sa dako na gyud ang iyahang liki,” Barangay Marilog Proper Chairwoman, Jeanette Suam, said.
Authorities are worried that once rains pour again and heavy trucks would pass the area, the highway may give in because of the landslide.
If this happens, more problems may arise as there are no alternative routes nearby for those who will enter and leave Davao City from Bukidnon.
The problem has been brought to the attention of the City Engineer’s Office and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Naghulat nalang mi kung unsay response nila kay, actually, kami dili namo basta-basta matarog pud kay wala man mi enough equipment nga para muano didto,” Suam added.
Residents and motorists have been advised to take extra caution since the Marilog area is prone to landslide.
